Submission to the Joint Standing Committee on the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) play a critical role in implementing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). However, problems with the operation of the scheme including inconsistencies in decision-making processes, lead to disruption of critical dietetic services and serious impacts on the health and wellbeing of people with disability.

This submission calls for:

  • the use of codesign principles to develop policy and procedures to improve access and planning of nutrition and dietetic supports
  • for education of the NDIS workforce and more information for NDIS participants regarding the role of dietitians and other allied health in supporting NDIS participants – in addition to other asks.
