The Early Years Strategy

Released April 2023 - We welcome the development of the first Early Years Strategy (the Strategy) and the opportunity to input into this important roadmap. While there are many important, cross-cutting, and mutually beneficial priorities for the Strategy, our recommendations focus on the impact of nutrition during this critical period of development.

Privacy Act Review Report

Released March 2023 - Dietitians Australia’s key focus of the report is on the use of children’s data and personal information to market unhealthy foods and diets. Children should be able to use digital media without being exposed to and bombarded with sophisticated digital marketing campaigns for unhealthy food.

Transforming Australian Food Systems

Released February 2023 - Dietitians Australia calls for strong government leadership and commitment to rapidly adopt, implement and monitor government-led and comprehensive mandatory food policy legislation to reduce the overconsumption of salt/sodium, sugar and unhealthy fats.

Measuring what matters

Released January 2023 - Dietitians Australia acknowledges the Albanese Government, as the first to implement a well-being approach to economic policy in Australia.

Mediterranean diet

The Mediterranean diet has long been considered a benchmark for a model of a healthy diet. There is no one best way to eat for everybody, but a person can look to the Mediterranean diet as a guide to help make positive choices for eating healthier.

Fad diets

A fad diet is an eating plan that often promotes quick and easy weight loss or radically improved health. Fad diets can be tempting as they offer a quick fix to either real or perceived problems. But they have little scientific evidence to support their claims.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 (also called cobalamin) is an important vitamin. We need this vitamin to make red blood cells and new DNA for growing and dividing cells. Vitamin B12 also helps maintain the health of the conductive coating that surrounds and protects nerves.
