We work with universities to ensure their dietetics programs meet our accreditation standards. A fee is applied to accredit a program and to maintain its accreditation.
To become an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), graduates need to hold a degree from an accredited university.
Our fees for accreditation are based on a cost recovery model. They go towards funding and maintaining our accreditation operations. This includes both professional and administrative support.
Fee types
Fees for accreditation include:
- a review fee
- an annual fee
- a fee for additional review services
All accreditation fees are reviewed annually. Universities should budget for increases in line with the annual consumer price index (CPI) for education.
Fees are non-refundable.

Annual fee for 2024
The annual fee is an accreditation maintenance fee. It covers the cost of maintaining professional and accreditation support services between major accreditation reviews.
Universities need to pay an annual maintenance fee and submit an annual report. This is for quality assurance, to ensure all programs with accreditation status continue to meet the Accreditation Standards.
Programs undergoing a major accreditation review will also need to pay an annual maintenance fee. But they don't need to submit an annual report in addition to their major accreditation review documentation.
