As Australia's peak body for dietitians, we represent our members and our profession. We raise awareness about the importance of nutrition in public health. Our advocacy and policy work helps us support Australia's healthcare needs.

We advocate for the role of Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs). APDs treat a range of health conditions and give expert advice on nutrition and dietary issues. They help Australians stay healthy and well.

Nutritional health is a key public health issue. We work with all levels of government, government agencies and other peak bodies to influence health policy. Our expert advice can help improve the health of all Australians.

Our latest policy and advocacy work

We promote better community healthcare by advocating for key areas of nutritional health.

Right now, our advocacy priority areas are aged care, disability, healthy and sustainable diets, and mental health.

Submission

Dietitians Australia welcomes the opportunity to comment on Food Standards Australia and New Zealand’s (FSANZ) Proposal P1066 - Review of young child formula. Young child formula is currently regulated under Standard 2.9.3 Formulated meal replacements and formulated supplementary foods as formulated supplementary foods for young children in the Australia New Zealand Food Standard Code.

This proposal considers adopting a clearer and more targeted regulatory framework for young child formula that reflects its classification as a special purpose food.

Submission

Dietitians (APDs) play a pivotal role in supporting Autistic children and adults to eat in a way that supports their health and wellbeing. By offering nutrition therapy throughout the continuum of care, APDs address challenges such as restrictive diets and gastrointestinal concerns, ultimately enhancing the person's capacity to learn, engage, and fully participate in life.
