Ahead of the Federal Budget, Dietitians Australia is renewing its call on the Government to fund accredited practising dietitians to support aged care homes to improve food and nutrition for residents.
Dietitians Australia has canvassed the NSW Liberal National Party, NSW Labor and NSW Greens for details on whether they plan to commit to prioritising nutrition as part of the newly elected NSW Government.
Released January 2023- Dietitians Australia welcomes the National Dementia Action Plan and commends the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care for including 7 objectives in support of the vision described.
Dietitians Australia is urging Australian families to dig deeper and investigate how nutrition is managed at their loved one’s aged care home, warning that the star rating falls short of providing information on the nutritional quality of food served.
Dietitians Australia is demanding the Government move immediately to mandate a requirement for every residential aged care home to have their menus and meals assessed by a dietitian on-site at least once a year.
